It’s the genre crossover of the year!
At the end of last week, Ciara He surprised his Instagram followers with unexpected news: he was going to the countryside. Just a few days later, she stepped on stage with walker hayes at the 2022 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony to perform the country artist’s song “Ya’ll Life”, which aired on October 14.
That same day, Hayes released a new version of the song with Ciara on the single, and she seems to be having the time of her life living that life.
“My first Country Show live! Wow! Thanks for having me @WalkerHayes @CMT! Y’all life 🤟🏽,” the singer wrote on Instagram shortly after their duet. She shared a video on the platform filled with performance clips, backstage photos, and even an a cappella wardrobe session.
The opening shot showed the “One, Two Step” singer strutting down a backstage aisle, past gear boxes, spare bands and microphone stands as she showed off her outfit for the night: a black leather dress with what appears to be distressed denim surrounded by sparkly appliqués on the skirt, a beaded rim denim bra peeking out over the bust, paired with a black cowboy hat, black cowboy boots, and a black belt, all embellished with shiny stones.
The clip transitioned into footage from the night’s performance, which was interspersed with a beautiful black-and-white shot of the star, followed by a similar shot in color. The footage resumed before showing another shot of the “Goodies” singer posing in the backstage hallway with her left leg raised off the ground and her right hand in the air. A few more shots of BTS were added to the mix, including some with Hayes.
The music, the track’s new studio recording, died down as the video changed to show the two having fun in one of their dressing rooms. “Hey hey!” Ciara cheered, a big smile on her face as the camera began to roll. “Okay, Walker, what kind of life are we living?” she then asked.

“We’re living that-” he said before breaking off to start singing the phrase instead. The two then broke out into an a cappella version of the new song.
“Hears!” Ciara clapped again when they finished, holding the “Let’s Rock” sign in both hands as she added, “Viva la vida!”
Fans were delighted with the change in sound.
“Oh she ate that country song 🔥🔥🔥🔥👀👀👀,” said one, while another added, “Living for country Ciara😍.”
Some fans love Ciara’s life phase so much that they’re already begging for more.
“I love it!! ❤️ Now we can get a country music album from you because you can definitely pull it off,” said one fan.
Could this be a new musical adventure for the R&B artist?
