‘Outlander’: everything we learned during the NYCC 2022 panel | show news

Was a stranger celebration on the Empire Stage of New York Comic Con at the Javits Center on Sunday as stars Sam Heughan, David Berry and Duncan Lacroix joined author Diana Gabaldon for the Sunday morning tea with two hillmen and a gentleman questions and answers

The Oct. 9 event was packed with fans, and TV Insider was on site to listen as the conversation kicked off with a moderated panel before questions were passed to the audience. While almost every moment would surely thrill stranger fans, there were standout reveals made during the event that we’re breaking down, below. Lord John Gray returns

As the event began, questions came to David Berry, who plays fan favorite Lord John Grey. The biggest question for the actor? Will his character return for the next season? If his longer lockdowns didn’t reveal the answer, Berry was ready to hype fans up, simply telling them that he’s “going” back for the next season. The actor briefly appeared in season 6 but was lost on viewers enjoying the character. So this news is sure to excite.

Diana’s perspective

When asked what he thought of the show’s adaptation of his writing, Gabaldon quipped, “They got it right for the most part.” Even if she feels like a few things are missing from the show, she Gabaldon joked that she’s more concerned with figuring out which of her main stars, Sam Heughan or Caitriona Balfe, drops the most bombshells. Ultimately, Diana stated that her on-screen Claire Fraser was to blame for her.

Murtagh’s ghost?

As for Lacroix, the actor said he wouldn’t be sure what use he would have in future episodes of the show, but Gabaldon teased that there could be room for more Murtagh. “If we get Season 8, I’ll see what we can do about Murtagh’s ghost,” Gabaldon told Lacroix onstage, drawing applause from the audience.

What do the stars love on television?

During the fan Q&A portion, the stars and Gabaldon were asked what shows they love on TV the way fans love. stranger. One fan wanted to know which character they would bring to a party, and Heughan was quick to say, “I don’t think Jamie will like him,” joking that Highlander might think he’s just a goofy actor. Instead, Heughan said he would think Richard Rankin’s Roger would be funny at a party.

The secret of tears on screen?

According to an audience member, they believe Heughan has quite a few crying scenes throughout the series and wanted to know how the actor pulled off those emotional moments and cried on command. Heughan said, “I don’t go out of my way to squeeze myself out of it.” The comment drew laughter from the audience as Heughan spoke candidly.

the future of the show

A fan asked about the rumors about the fact that stranger could end after the yet-to-order eighth season, but Heughan argued that they’re only in season 7 and for fans not to worry. Gabaldon stated: “Absolutely nothing has been officially released.” In other words, rumors are rumours, and until something official is announced, viewers can enjoy the series as it continues to unfold.

A mother’s question

One question came from a young man on behalf of his mother, as he asked whether or not fans could expect Fergus (Cesar Domboy) and Marsali (Lauren Lyle) to return, Gabaldon and the stars remained silent, but the author said of a possible appearance of Fergus, “he hasn’t appeared yet, but I haven’t seen everything”. Could he be alluding to footage from Season 7? It would seem so.

Derivative Update

Although Starz announced plans for the Outlander: Blood of my blood spinoff about Jamie Fraser’s parents, fans were eager to learn more about the proposed Lord John Gray spinoff. Unfortunately, Gabaldon hinted that Sony “isn’t that interested right now.” In other words, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the potential series.
